Attorney, Minister & Nonprofit Leader Jim Priest Announces Campaign for U.S. Senate
Oklahoma City, OK — Oklahoma Democrat Jim Priest – a longtime attorney, minister, and nonprofit leader – is running for the United States Senate seat currently occupied by Sen. Markwayne Mullin, saying it is time to bring problem solving skills and servant leadership to Washington.
Priest has spent more than 40 years helping working people and organizations solve real problems. As an employment-law trial lawyer, executive coach, and mediator, he has worked directly with employees, employers, and families facing difficult workplace and economic challenges.
In addition to his legal career, Priest has served as CEO (Chief Encouragement Officer) for two major Oklahoma City nonprofits that provide workforce development and critical services to families and individuals in need. In those roles, he created a positive employee culture, led diverse teams, and earned a reputation for down to earth connections with employees and the community, putting people first.
“Oklahomans deserve a Senator who isn’t caught up in partisanship and who will work on the real life economic issues affecting Oklahomans’ daily life,” Priest said. “I’ve spent my career working for justice, serving those in need, and being a voice for ethics in business and in personal life. It’s time to stop bickering and start problem solving for Oklahoma and our country.”
Priest also served as an ordained minister and longtime columnist and speaker on ethics, family life, and legal and workplace issues. He says those experiences have shaped his belief that public service should be grounded in honesty, responsibility, and respect for all people.
“Government doesn’t have to be about ‘us and them’,” Priest said. “We can flip the script and work together to make lives better and return America to a beacon of democracy.”
The Priest campaign said it will focus on listening to Oklahomans across the state and building a broad coalition of voters who want practical leadership instead of partisan gridlock.
